Day 1 - Saturday, September 25, 2010
We are off to explore New York, from the Finger Lakes to the Adirondack
Mountains, to the city.
Welcome aboard, sit back and relax with your traveling companions as we motor
across Iowa,
Illinois and Indiana, as we make our way to the Columbus area for our
first overnight.
Day 2 - Sunday, September 26, 2010
After breakfast, the adventure continues as we travel to Rochester for a
visit to the George Eastman
House. George Eastman was the inventor of modern photography (Kodak). After
our visit, we continue
on to the Finger Lakes area of the Empire State of New York. Our
overnight stay is in Lake Canandaigua,
one of the Finger Lakes.
Day 3 - Monday, September 27, 2010
After breakfast we will visit Sonnenberg Gardens. Sonnenberg is a German
word meaning sunny hill. The
50 acre estate of Sonnenberg Gardens consists of more than a dozen manicured
theme gardens as well as
a Victorian Mansion. A full day in the Finger Lakes awaits today as we travel
down the shores of Seneca
Lake. The Finger Lakes region is known for its great wine, we are off to
visit one of the many wineries in
the area. We will tour the winery and of course, have a wine tasting.
After our visit we head for the beautiful
little town of Watkins Glen for lunch on your own. This afternoon we will
enjoy a cruise on beautiful Lake
Seneca and a visit to Watkins Glen State Park before heading to our
overnight stay in Binghamton, NY.
Day 4 - Tuesday, September 28, 2010
We travel north and east through upstate New York on our way to the quaint
little village of Cooperstown.
Here you will have the option to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame or the The
Farmers Museum. The baseball
museum chronicles the history of baseball through photos, artifacts and player
memorabilia. The Farmers
Museum, one of the oldest living history museums features exhibits, craft
demonstrations and hand-on activities
that bring history to life. After our Cooperstown visit we head north through
the colorful Adirondack Mountains.
The mountains should be in full color as we travel on to Lake George for
our overnight stay. This evening
we have reserved seats at the Lake George Dinner Theatre for an evening
of entertainment.
Day 5 - Wednesday, September 29, 2010
Before we depart Lake George we will visit Fort William Henry. Built in
1755 the British fort was the subject
of James Fennimore Coopers "Last of the Mohicans." The fort contains barracks,
dungeons, stockades and
other artifacts. Living history demonstrations include cannon firing, musket
ball modeling and bomb toss. We
then head down the Hudson River to the state capitol of New York, Albany.
Here we will tour the capitol
building. After our tour we continue on to our overnight stop at West Point.
Our accommodations are on the
grounds of the United States Military Academy.
Day 6 - Thursday, September 30, 2010
Before departing West Point we will take a guided tour of this famous school
with a local guide. After the
tour we are off for a two night stay in the "Big Apple," New York City.
Lunch time finds us at Macy's
Department Store for lunch and a little free time. This afternoon we will
take a tour of the city with a local
guide. Our tour will include such sites as Central Park, Lincoln Center for
the Performing Arts, Carnegie
Hall, Grant's Tomb and much more. After a full day we check into our midtown
hotel. This evening we
will discover New York 70 stories up at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck.
Day 7 - Friday, October 1, 2010
After breakfast, we head "Downtown" through Chinatown, Greenwich Village
and Soho, on our way to
Battery Park, and the boats that will take us out to the Statue of
Liberty, and Ellis Island. From 1892 to
1954, Ellis was the main port of entry into the United State for millions of
immigrants. Lunch time finds us
at the South Street Seaport, the original port of New York. The port
offers many restaurants, and shops as
well as a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge. After lunch, we will visit
Ground Zero before traveling on the
USS Intrepid. This WWII Aircraft Carrier has seen action in three wars,
and is now restored as a museum
to Naval Aviation. We return to our hotel in the late afternoon to rest and
freshen up, for tonight we are off
to dinner at one of New York's fine restaurants. After dinner, we have
reserved seats at a Broadway play.
Day 8 - Saturday, October 2, 2010
Homeward Bound!! This morning we depart New York City and head west
through New Jersey and the
mountains of Pennsylvania and into Ohio to Perrysburg for our last overnight
stay.
Day 9 - Sunday, October 3, 2010
Iowa, here we come! We continue west this morning through the remainder
of Ohio, Indiana and Illinois
on our way back to Iowa and home with many fond memories of our New York
Adventure.

cancelled. Any surcharges and/or tax increases received from suppliers for the

Hotels, etc.) may result in an increase in the per person price of your tour
